Bienvenue sur le réseau
Si tu vois cette page, c'est que tu essayes de te connecter à Internet via le réseau du CR@NS, et que tu n'y es pas inscrit.
Si tu es déjà inscrit et que tu te branches avec la machine que tu as enregistrée auprès du Cr@ns, il est possible qu'il y ait un problème avec un des serveurs. Essaies de désactiver et de réactiver ta carte réseau (ou de débrancher puis rebrancher le câble) dans 5 minutes pour recommencer la détection de ta machine. Si tu te branches avec une nouvelle machine, tu peux la rajouter via l'intranet (http://intranet.crans.org) si tu as un compte Cr@ns, ou alors pendant une permanence câbleur. Attention tu ne peux avoir qu'une seule machine enregistrée par câble (tandis que tu peux enregistrer autant de machines que tu veux en wifi).
Inscription au réseau
Il existe deux réseaux permettant l’accès à Internet sur le campus, et deux offres portées par l'association CRANS et le CROUS de Créteil. Tu es amené à choisir le réseau sur lequel tu souhaites être connecté. Voici un descriptif succint des deux offres.

Welcome on the network
If you can read this, you are trying to access the Internet via the CR@NS network, and you are not registered. If you are registered already, there may be a problem with our servers. Try switching your network card off and on again in 5 minutes to let the servers detect you again. If you are registered but connecting with a non-registered computer, you can register it on the Intranet (http://intranet.crans.org) or with an active member (see below).
The association
The CR@NS (for Cachan / Réseau à Normale Sup') is a student association which sets up and administrates the network on this campus. It provides to its members an Internet connection and many services. Its active members are all volunteers.
The CR@NS also aims to promote free software. In particular, the association sets up, once a year, a GNU/Linux install-party.
How to get a connexion
First of all, as the CR@NS is connected to Internet via the Renater network, you need to be a student to get a connection.
Joining
Members of the CR@NS have access to all the services provided by the CR@NS, namely :
network connection by Ethernet (cable) and WiFi (wireless)
- very high speed Internet access
- e-mail address for life
- TV on the network
- printing service
- etc.
Joining costs 50 € (for one year).
Connection without joining
The CR@NS offers to those who don't want to join a free simple web access (Ethernet). But you still need to register.
However, the maintenance of the network and the provided services have a cost, and the Cr@ns get all the money to maintain from registrations, so we strongly encourage you to register in order to help us.
Moreover, joining is "without obligation" : when a member leaves the association after less than 6 month of membership, a part of his subscription can be paid back to him.

In concrete terms
You have to accept the following documents, whatever you join or not :

The rules of the CR@NS (in french)
The registration requires to fill a form you can obtain from active members, who are on duty at the KFet on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 PM. According to what you choose, ask for a joining or simple registration form. You have to fill it in duplicate.
You also have to provide the following documents :
- a school certificate, or a copy of your student card (showing the original). If you don't have it right now, you can give it to us before November the first of the current school year.
- if you join the association, 50€ by check or cash
Members only
The CR@NS offers to you an e-mail adress for life, on which depend some provided services : intranet (printing service, management of your computers), personnal web page, etc. If you are given one, you have to look at incoming mail at this adress, for us to be able to contact you.
This is an option. If you don't want an adress and the depending services, you have to provide a valid e-mail adress for us to be able to contact you.
If you choose not to create an e-mail adress when you join, you can do it later by asking an active member.
